Gutholz has the right idea. It's the practicality of an estate with the ability to storm down the highway. That's all most people want from a high performance car since 99% of them will never take it to the track.
I bought the Fulvia and it's exactly like that. The car will pull left of right seemingly randomly at high speed, which is almost impossible to correct with keyboard inputs (I don't mind not supporting my wheel, but no mouse controls? really?). I find myself in a semi-controlled tank slapper down every straight, pounding left and right keys just to make it to the end.
Funny that this is a PC only game, because gamepads seem to be the preferred controller at the moment.
Width is critical to the ergonomics of a handheld phone. My iPhone 5 with it's case is just barely small enough that my thumb can cross the whole screen. With some slight hand adjustments I can just touch any apps on the home screen. I imagine that on anything wider you'd have to have a second hand out to reach the far side of the screen.
It's only a few mm difference, but that's massive when you're trying to watch porn with one hand on your dick.
Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it seems that under the 'cars' section of the new site, there is actually a viewer embedded. It seems to be connected to LFS World as well, as you can view uploaded skins there too.
My brother's VW Jetta has the most annoying clutch pedal I've ever experienced. The first few cm have almost no resistance, but then there's a sort of 'crest' right around the bite point where it gets really heavy. You have to press harder to get over the 'crest' and then you end up tumbling down the other side as it seemingly loses resistance again.
So you've either got all clutch or no clutch unless you have fantastic coordination and are really focusing on the clutch.
edit: The problem is absolutely between the monitor and the chair. It's all relatively easy fixes (just had to change SATA modes), but I have no clue what I'm doing so it takes 4 hours to solve the stupidest problems.
OK, after some futzing about I got the BIOS open and the boot order was wrong. I've reorganized it and things seem to be running well.
Only problem is that the Windows 7 installer seems unable to create a partition in the hard drive for some reason. I'm in the process of adding one manually via command prompt, so hopefully this works.
I finally pulled the trigger on a new PC when a good deal popped up on eBay. Respectable seller had put together $870 worth of parts for a customer that pulled out at the last minute, so he wanted to cut his losses and I got it for $600.
It arrived today, but upon booting I got a "Bootmgr not found - press Ctrl+alt+delete to restart" error message. Restarting results in the same error and I am unable to access BIOS for some reason. Troubleshooting online indicated that the hard drive might be faulty, which seems probable because it had come loose from it's clipping and probably got bounced around during shipping.
After removing the hard drive and booting without one, everything seemed to be working normally. My question is whether or not this is definitely an issue with the hard drive. Is there any way that it could be something caused by the boot order (haven't had a chance to check yet) or faulty wiring? Just want to know before I go out and purchase another hard drive.
I'm delighted that Westhill is getting an update, but I also love the current model.
Eric may say that it doesn't fit the current/newer physics packages, but that's almost why I like it. The track is unique because, even as a road course, the racing is close and fueled by drafting battles. The speeds are high, so even the slowest drivers feel fast. While you spend most of the lap trying to optimize your line to take corners full throttle, the few braking zones are perfect for overtaking.
I really wonder how Eric knew how to create good overtaking spots with hilly left-right chicanes and downhill opening-radius corners, while Hermann Tilke can't create a pass unless there's a widened track with a 150 degree hairpin.
For those who don't know, the ChampCar name was apparently purchased by Mark Plourde. He continues to update the series website with results from races that may or may not have taken place in another dimension.
He's either completely delusional or just taking a piss.
You have to realize that Americans like to bastardize sport in favor of spectacle. Look at football and hockey. Racing is no exception. Promotors know that drama draws crowds, so they don't actively try to avoid it.
I mean, holy hell, a few years ago NASCAR tried to draw fans with "rubbin's racin'" and that ended up being validation for the drivers to do anything on the track. We saw guys Brad Keslowski get spun and flipped into the fence over a grudge. The organization has reversed it's position slightly since then, but there is still a strong sentiment for that style of racing.
If you want more examples, just look up Bowman Grey stadium. There's hardly a weekend where they don't have a brawl or serious revenge wreck.
There's a clear engine rev in the video before Stewart is shown sliding into Ward, which suggest that Tony for some reason floored it. Thing is, there's really no way of telling where the engine rev came from. It could have been any other car on track. If it is Stewart revving his engine, however, then it seems like it was kinda done as intimidation. Even in such a case, I don't think you can completely blame Stewart. This would be a series of poor decisions by both parties that led to the incident.
Second possibility Tony didn't see him until it was too late. He was just behind another car that just barely missed Ward. That car dove to the inside of Ward, so it could easily have blocked Stewart's view up right up until it passed Ward. Even if Stewart had gotten a good look ahead of the other car earlier in the corner, when it wasn't obstructing Ward, Stewart would've had to spot a black suited driver on a dark brown surface.
That video actually does great justice. Really smooth compared to other people's head movements, plus showing both lens allows us to see how they are slightly offset.
Just want to say, great move by Scawen to fully support VR headsets so quickly. I've been watching the forum's visitor count all day and even right now, at a pretty off hour, there's over 160 guests here. Although VR support may only affect a fraction of the players currently, adding it has proven a crucial step towards reviving Live For Speed's popularity.
It's been a while since we got a taste of Scawen's visionary thinking, but I think this may be our best taste yet.
As happy as I am that we got the FBM, its a shame that it essentially killed off all the good FOX racing. It use to be that there would be 2 popular servers on any given night. One was a multi-class GT server and the other was a FOX only server with cycling tracks. Now its just one popular S2 server and a boatload of demo servers running the FBM.
